Ex-Wildcat Lauri Markkanen out 4-6 weeks with hip injury

Former Arizona Wildcats standout Lauri Markkanen will miss four to six weeks with a stress reaction in his right pelvis, the Chicago Bulls announced Friday.
The injury was discovered following an MRI conducted Thursday. It marks the latest issue Markkanen has dealt with during his less than three seasons in the NBA, including the 2018-19 season when he was limited to 46 games because of an elbow injury suffered in training camp and an elevated heart rate that cut short his season last March.
Markkanen, 22, was averaging 15.0 points and 6.5 rebounds in 46 games (all starts) this season for the Bulls, who at 17-29 are 2.5 games out of the No. 8 spot in the Eastern Conference standings.
A first-round pick of the Minnesota Timberwolves in the 2017 NBA Draft, the 7-foot Markkanen made the All-Rookie Team that season. In one season (2016-17) at Arizona he averaged 15.6 points and 7.2 rebounds on 49.2 percent shooting.
