The early signing period for college basketball begins next week, and as it stands the Arizona Wildcats only have one player committed to the 2020 recruiting class.

And now one of the most likely possibilities for a second 2020 pledge is off the market now that 4-star wing Donovan ‘Puff’ Johnson has committed to the North Carolina Tar Heels.

The 6-foot-7 Johnson, rated by 247Sports as the No. 48 player in the country, picked the school where older brother Cameron Johnson—now with the Phoenix Suns—finished his college career after starting at Pittsburgh. Puff took an official visit to UNC last weekend and had also visited Ohio State and Arizona this fall, attending the Wildcats’ Red-Blue scrimmage on Sept. 27.

Arizona’s only commit for 2020 is 4-star wing Dalen Terry, the No. 32 player in the class, who plays for the same Hillcrest Prep team in Phoenix that Johnson is on. Their coach this season is former Wildcat star Mike Bibby, who was hired last month after leading alma mater Shadow Mountain in Phoenix to several state titles.

Despite the lone pledge, Arizona coach Sean Miller said Monday he expects to add “more than one” player in the early signing period.
