The Arizona Wildcats will not be getting their first Hall of Famer this year.

Former UA linebacker Lance Briggs, who was among 122 players nominated for the 2020 Pro Football Hall of Fame class in September, was not one of the 25 semifinalists announced on Tuesday.

Briggs, who played for Arizona from 1999-2002, played 12 seasons with the Chicago Bears from 2003-14. He made seven Pro Bowls, was an NFL All-Pro in 2005 and was part of the Bears’ Super Bowl-team in 2006.

The Pro Football Hall of Fame will announce 15 finalists for the 2020 class in early January, with five players elected into the Hall in February.

Arizona is one of three Pac-12 schools without a Hall of Famer, along with Colorado and Oregon State.
