How former Arizona Wildcats are faring in the NBA in 2019-20

The first month of the NBA season is over, and here is a look at how all the former Arizona Wildcats are playing so far.

Aaron Gordon, Orlando Magic

  • 2019-20 stats: 14 G, 30.4 MPG, 13.1 PPG, 6.2 RPG, 2.9 APG, 42.1 FG%, 28.3 3PT%, 72.3 FT%
  • Team record: 6-10
  • Contract status: In second year of four-year, $80 million contract
  • Year in league: 6

Gordon’s numbers are down across the board. He has been sidelined for almost a week due to a right ankle contusion.

Lauri Markkanen, Chicago Bulls

  • 2019-20 stats: 17 G, 29.6 MPG, 13.8 PPG, 7.5 RPG, 1.6 APG, 35.4 FG%, 27.7 3PT%, 81.0 FT%
  • Team record: 6-12
  • Contract status: In third year of three-year, $13.7 million contract (has $6.7M team option for 2020-21)
  • Year in league: 3

Markkanen is struggling with his shot, and has seen a decrease in his playing time as a result

T.J. McConnell, Indiana Pacers

  • 2019-20 stats: 13 G, 17.8 MPG, 6.8 PPG, 4.8 APG, 2.9 RPG, 51.9 FG%, 0-1 3PT, 85.7 FT%
  • Team record: 10-6
  • Contract status: In first year of two-year, $7 million contract
  • Year in league: 5

A reserve for the Pacers, McConnell is averaging a career high in points, rebounds and assists per 100 possessions.

Deandre Ayton, Phoenix Suns

  • 2019-20 stats: 1 G, 33 MPG. 18.0 PPG, 11.0 RPG, 4.0 BPG, 64.3 FG%
  • Team record: 8-8
  • Contract status: In second year of three-year, $27 million contract (with $12.6M team option in 2021-22)
  • Year in league: 2

Ayton is currently serving a 25-game suspension after testing positive for a diuretic.

Solomon Hill, Memphis Grizzlies

  • 2019-20 stats: 13 G, 17.5 MPG, 5.3 PPG, 2.9 RPG, 42.1 FG%, 36.4 3PT%, 64.3 FT%
  • Team record: 5-11
  • Contract status: In final year of four-year, $48 million contract
  • Years in league: 7

Shooting a career-best 36.4 percent from 3, Hill is putting up solid numbers off the bench for a rebuilding Memphis team.

Andre Iguodala, Memphis Grizzlies

  • 2019-20 stats: N/A
  • Team record: 5-11
  • Contract status: In final year of three-year, $48 million contract* (is seeking buyout from Grizzlies, will not play for Memphis in 2019-20)
  • Year in league: 16

Iguodala is still hoping to be bought out by the Grizzlies so he can enter free agency.

Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, Toronto Raptors

  • 2019-20 stats: 8 G, 21.3 MPG, 9.0 PPG, 6.1 RPG, 1.5 APG, 1.0 SPG, 58.0 FG%, 0-2 3PT, 70.0 FT%
  • Team record: 12-4
  • Contract status: Signed one-year, $2.5 million contract

Hollis-Jefferson has been a steady contributor off the bench after getting off to a slow start because of a groin injury. Monday, he had 16 points and 10 rebounds in a win over the Sixers.

Stanley Johnson, Toronto Raptors

  • 2019-20 stats: 5 G, 3.8 MPG, 1.4 PPG, 1.4 RPG, 33.3 FG%
  • Team record: 12-4
  • Contract status: In first year of two-year, $7.5 million contract (second year is player option)
  • Year in league: 5

Johnson is currently out with a groin injury, but hasn’t been effective when on the court.

Allonzo Trier, New York Knicks

  • 2019-20 stats: 8 G, 14.6 MPG, 7.1 PPG, 1.5 RPG, 1.5 APG, 47.1 FG%, 45.0 3PT%, 76.2 FT%
  • Team record: 4-13
  • Contract status: In second year of two-year, $7 million contract
  • Year in league: 2

Trier’s scoring numbers are better on a per-minute basis this season, but he is averaging roughly eight fewer minutes per game.

Kadeem Allen, New York Knicks

  • 2019-20 stats: N/A
  • Team record: 4-13
  • Contract status: On two-way contract
  • Year in league: 3

Signed to a two-way contract, Allen has spent the whole season in the G League so far, where he is averaging 13.0 points, 5.5 assists, and 4.8 rebounds per game with a .367/.304/1.000 shooting line.

Kobi Simmons, Charlotte Hornets

  • 2019-20 stats: N/A
  • Team record: 6-12
  • Contract status: On two-way contract
  • Years in league: 3

Like Allen, Simmons is signed to a two-way contract and has only played in the G League this season. He is averaging 16.2 points and 7.5 assists per game, while shooting 42 percent from the field and 29.2 percent from 3.
