Arizona Wildcats assistant director of basketball operations Austin Carroll is joining the Rhode Island Rams as an assistant coach, according to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports.

Carroll has been part of Arizona basketball since 2014 when he began as a graduate assistant after finishing his playing career at American University. He was promoted to his current position in 2016.

According to his school-produced bio, Carroll “oversees Arizona’s video scouting efforts and is responsible for the organization, breakdown, scouting and presentation of game film. He will also handle player edits for individual players’ use, creates recruiting videos and cuts recruiting film for coaches’ evaluation.”

Carroll also stepped into a coaching role when former UA assistants Book Richardson and Mark Phelps were suspended in 2017-18 and 2018-19, respectively.

Carroll’s father, John, was an assistant coach at Rhode Island in 2018-19 before stepping down due to health reasons. He remains at the school as a special assistant.

Arizona recently announced the hiring of David Miller as the director of on-campus recruiting and basketball analytics and Anthony Richards as the director of student-athlete development.
