Only five former Arizona Wildcats made the final 53-man rosters of NFL teams, quite a small number for a power-conference college program.
But at least one ex-Wildcat who got cut over the weekend has landed a practice squad gig, an indication of their potential value in the pros.
Safety Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles, who played at Arizona from 2015-18, has been signed to the San Francisco 49ers' practice squad a day after he was cut by the Niners.
The #49ers have signed the following nine players to the team’s practice squad.

Flannigan-Fowles, who went undrafted in April, signed as a free agent with San Francisco and had an interception in its final preseason game.
Meanwhile, former Arizona defensive tackle P.J. Johnson is still waiting for his next job after the Detroit Lions--who drafted him in the seventh round--cut him on Saturday. He was not among the players Detroit has since brought back as practice players.
I'm also a little surprised P.J. Johnson isn't on the initial practice squad. Probably still going to be some moving parts in the next couple days. https://t.co/zDSZpJLXHL
