Solomon Hill dealt to Memphis Grizzlies, second trade this summer

It’s been a busy offseason for former Wildcat Solomon Hill, who on Wednesday was traded for the second time in less than two weeks. His latest move takes him from the Atlanta Hawks to the Memphis Grizzlies, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Memphis has agreed to trade Chandler Parsons to Atlanta for Solomon Hill and Miles Plumlee, league sources tell ESPN.

Hill, who played last season for the New Orleans Pelicans, was traded to the Atlanta Hawks on June 20 in a deal in which he was the only player. The Pelicans and Hawks swapped six draft picks, including five from the 2019 NBA Draft that was held that same night.

Entering the final season of a four-year, $48 million contract, the 6-foot-7 Hill is due to earn $12.7 million in 2019-20. The 28-year-old averaged 4.3 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.3 assists in 44 games (12 starts) last season for the Pelicans, his third year with the club after signing in 2016 as a free agent.

In six NBA seasons, Hill is averaging 5.9 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.5 assists while shooting 39.5 percent overall and 32.7 percent from three-point range.

Hill is the second former Arizona basketball star to be traded to Memphis this summer. Wing Andre Igoudala was sent to the Grizzlies by the Golden State Warriors on June 30 in exchange for picks in the 2024, 2025 and 2026 drafts. That move was precipitated by the Warriors’ acquisition of point guard D’Angelo Russell in a sign-and-trade deal with the Brooklyn Nets.

Igoudala, 35, is also entering the final year of his contract, a 3-year, $48-million deal in which he’s due to earn $17.1 million this season.
