T.J. McConnell drawing interest from Lakers, Suns, Sixers, and others, per report

The first wave of NBA free agency has passed, but all four Arizona Wildcats who are free agents remain unsigned.

That said, Philadelphia 76ers free agent T.J. McConnell is drawing interest from several teams including the Lakers, Suns, Pacers, Grizzlies, Heat, Timberwolves and, yes, the Sixers, according to Darren Wolfson of KSTP in Minnesota.

McConnell, 27, averaged 6.4 points, 3.4 assists, 2.3 rebounds and 1.0 steals per game with the Sixers this past season, his fourth as an NBA player.

McConnell has made 74 starts throughout his NBA career, only four of which have come in the last two seasons, so NBA front offices likely view him as a second- or third-string point guard.

McConnell’s inability to hit 3s at a high clip—he is a career 33.5 percent 3-point shooter—limits his value, but he recoups some of it by contributing in other ways, including setting the tone with the energy and effort that made him a fan favorite in Tucson.

McConnell made $1.6 million in 2018-19, but is expected to get a pay raise when all is said and done.
