How former Arizona Wildcats fared in NBA Summer League
NBA Summer League came to a close on Monday, so it’s time to take a look back at how all the former Arizona Wildcats performed in Las Vegas.
Note that Gabe York did not participate, despite being listed on the Orlando Magic’s roster at one point.
Allonzo Trier, New York Knicks
Summer League stats: 1 G, 21 PPG, 5.0 RPG, 4.0 APG, 57.0 FG%, 3-4 3PT
One game is all it took for Trier to prove that he is too good for Summer League. Actually, it wasn’t even one game. The contest was called off early in the fourth quarter because of an earthquake.
Kadeem Allen, New York Knicks
Summer League stats: 5 G, 24.0 MPG, 7.8 PPG, 4.0 APG, 1.6 SPG, 43 FG%, 4-10 3PT
Allen’s future with the Knicks is uncertain, but the way he shot the ball in Vegas is promising. Combine that with his defensive ability, and he should at least receive an invite to an NBA training camp.
Brandon Ashley, Sacramento Kings
Summer League stats: 4 G, 13.1 MPG, 6.0 PPG, 4.0 RPG, 50 FG%, 33.3 3PT%
Decent numbers, but he might be too old (25) for an NBA team to invite him to training camp.
Brandon Randolph, Minnesota Timberwolves
Summer League stats: 2 G, 3.8 MPG, 2.5 PPG, 1.0 APG, 1-3 FG
Not much of an opportunity for Randolph to showcase his game. It will be interesting to see where he goes next.
Rawle Alkins, Houston Rockets
Summer League stats: 4 G, 11.8 MPG, 6.5 PPG, 2.8 RPG, 1.3 APG, 45.0 FG%, 3-6 3PT
The Bulls renounced the rights to Alkins, so he is back on the market this offseason. We’ll see if his Summer League performance will land him any takers. Returning to the G League seems like a solid bet.
Justin Simon, Chicago Bulls
Summer League stats: 5 G, 20.9 MPG, 6.8 PPG, 4.0 RPG, 1.4 SPG, 51.6 FG%, 0-5 3PT, 2-5 FT
The G League seems like the most likely option for the undrafted free agent.
