Colin Schooler named to third different preseason watch list

Another day, another watch list nod for the Arizona Wildcats’ best defensive player.

Junior linebacker Colin Schooler is racking up the preseason accolades, the latest being inclusion on the watch list for the Nagurski Award given to college football’s top defender.

Schooler had previously been named to the watch lists for two other national awards: the Butkus, given to CFB’s best linebacker, and the Bednarik, for the top overall defensive player. If he makes the watch list for the Lombardi Trophy then he’ll have gotten preseason recognition from all three awards that former Arizona standout Scooby Wright III won in 2014.

In two seasons, Schooler has racked up 35 tackles for loss, 21.5 coming in 2018 when he had 119 tackles (72 solo) and 3.5 sacks.
