Arizona makes cut for 5-star guard Nimari Burnett

The Arizona Wildcats are one of 12 finalists for 2020 guard Nimari Burnett, he announced Monday on Twitter.
A five-star prospect, Burnett is the No. 23 player in his class and No. 5 combo guard, according to 247Sports composite rankings. His other finalists are Louisville, Oregon, UCLA, Stanford, Alabama, Marquette, Arkansas, Auburn, Illinois, Wake Forest, and Michigan.
The 6-foot-3, 185-pound Burnett attends Prolific Prep in Napa, California—the same school Jordan Brown went to—but he is originally from Chicago.
“A big-bodied guard who excels both on and off the ball,” reads Burnett’s 247Sports scouting report. “When he plays on the ball, he uses his frame with great length to overpower defenders and get to into the lane. Once there, Burnett shows solid floor vision and is good at finding shooters. When he plays off the ball, Burnett makes himself into a scorer who can get buckets by both attacking the basket and from deep. While he is a better athlete than most expect at first blush, he does need to continue to get into better shape - which should help all aspects of his game.”
Here are some of Burnett’s AAU highlights from this summer. He played for Team WhyNot, which Arizona’s coaching staff was watching closely:
Arizona is still trying to secure its first 2020 commit.
