Book Richardson alleges Sean Miller paid Deandre Ayton $10,000 per month

On Wednesday, federal prosecutors at the college basketball corruption trial played recordings from a wiretapped phone call that captured former Arizona Wildcats assistant Book Richardson telling Christian Dawkins that UA head coach Sean Miller paid Deandre Ayton $10,000 month while he was attending the school.

Here is how that conversation went, as transcribed by multiple outlets including ESPN:

Richardson: “Sean’s got to get the (expletive) out the way and let us work.”

Dawkins: ‘We’ll see how Sean plays it out.”

Richardson: ”You know what he bought per month?”

Dawkins: ”What he do?”

Richardson: “I told you—10.”

Dawkins: “He’s putting up some real money for them (expletive). He told me he’s getting killed.”

Richardson: “But that’s his fault.”

While no evidence has been presented, Richardson’s allegation contradicts what Miller said in March 2018 when he declared he has never knowingly violated NCAA rules while serving as Arizona’s head coach.

“I also want you to know that the one time someone suggested to me paying a player to come to the University of Arizona I did not agree to it. It never happened and that player did not come to the University of Arizona,” Miller said at the time.
