Sean Miller says Zeke Nnaji is ‘one of the most versatile’ players Arizona has recruited
Four-star forward Zeke Nnaji signed his National Letter of Intent on Wednesday, officially making him part of the Arizona Wildcats’ future.
It also means UA coach Sean Miller is now able to speak about Nnaji publicly, and he did so for the first time Thursday, calling Nnaji “one of the most versatile players” Arizona has recruited during Miller’s tenure.
“He is 6-feet-10, but has the agility and skill level to play away from the basket and in the open court,” Miller said in a statement via Twitter. “He won a Minnesota State Championship at Hopkins High School this past year. He is a talented student-athlete and a high-character young man. Zeke has a very bright future, and he complements the rest of our 2019 recruiting class exceptionally well.”
Nnaji is the No. 35 player in his class and No. 7 power forward, according to 247Sports composite rankings. He chose the Wildcats over Baylor, Kansas, UCLA and Purdue. He averaged 24.1 points and 9.4 rebounds per game in his senior season.
It is too early to tell what Nnaji’s role will be at Arizona, but he should be in the running to start at one of the two frontcourt spots. Either way, his ability to play multiple positions will help the Wildcats match up against a plethora of styles.
“Nnaji has good size for the position at 6-11, but his wingspan is just OK at 7-1,” it says on Nnaji’s 247Sports profile. “He’s mobile, runs the floor with ease and consistently rim runs. A rapidly developing post player, Nnaji brings value in his ability to make mid-range jump shots, finish off plays around the basket and with his rebounding. Nnaji has good hands, nice touch and is a fine finisher around the goal. Nnaji is a very good shooter from mid-range and in time his range will extend further. Nnjai does a good job of rebounding on the glass and competes on defense. He’s just OK as a rim protector, but gives good effort.”
