ESPN projects Arizona will barely make NCAA Tournament in 2019-20

Um, what?

The 2019 college basketball season came to a close Monday which means it is already time for some way-too-early projections for the 2020 season.

ESPN’s Joe Lunardi released his first bracketology and he believes the Arizona Wildcats — No. 1 recruiting class and all — will barely squeak into the NCAA Tournament.

Not only does Lunardi project Arizona will be an 11-seed, he also has them as one of the last four teams into the Big Dance, matched up with fellow 11-seed Virginia Tech in a play-in game.

Either Lunardi has little faith that Nico Mannion, Josh Green and company can right the ship, or he thinks that class will never make it to campus. Never mind that they — aside from Zeke Nnaji — have already inked their National Letters of Intent.

At the same time, ESPN’s Jeff Borzello has Arizona at No. 17 in his preseason Top 25 — a much more reasonable projection.
