Andre Iguodala replacing LeBron James as NBA Players Association VP

Former Arizona Wildcats star and three-time NBA champion Andre Iguodala was elected to a new leadership role as the National Basketball Players Association’s First Vice President.

The Golden State Warriors guard will be replacing LeBron James, who just finished his four-year team.

“I am honored to be chosen by my peers to step into this position and take on a larger responsibility within the NBPA,” said Iguodala in the NBPA’s press release. “I look forward to continuing my work with Michele, Chris Paul and the Executive Committee to accomplish the best possible outcomes for the union and our future members.”

Iguodala is the second-highest ranking member of the NBPA’s Executive Committee behind President Chris Paul.

The 2015 NBA Finals MVP is averaging 6.0 points, 3.9 rebounds and 3.3 assists over 23.5 minutes per game with Golden State this season. The Warriors went into the All-Star break with a 41-16 record, good enough for first place in the Western Conference and two games ahead of the second-place Denver Nuggets.

Iguodala played for Arizona from 2002-04, averaging 9.6 points, 6.6 rebounds and 3.4 assists in his two seasons with the Wildcats.
