Aari McDonald named Pac-12 Player of the Week after torching Colorado, Utah
Arizona Wildcats point guard Aari McDonald was named Pac-12 Player of the Week after posting eye-popping numbers against Colorado and Utah, it was announced Monday.
The redshirt sophomore averaged 33 points, 8 rebounds, 5 steals and three steals as the Wildcats earned a split on the road trip.
McDonald, who scored 32 points in the win vs. Colorado and 34 in the loss to Utah, shot 25-for-53 across the two-game stretch. The Washington transfer is currently the nation’s No. 2 scorer at 25.2 PPG.
She also ranks second in the Pac-12 in steals (2.6 per game), spearheading a UA defense that ranks No. 1 in the conference in several significant categories.
This is McDonald’s third time being named the conference’s player of the week. She is the first player in school history to post back-to-back 30-point games.
Arizona (12-2, 2-1 Pac-12) had won a program-record 11 straight games before falling to Utah on Sunday. The Wildcats return to action Friday when they host No. 24 Cal.
