Arizona catcher Dejah Mulipola named to USA Softball national team

USA Softball has tabbed Arizona Wildcats catcher Dejah Mulipola to be part of the 2019 national team, one of just two collegiate players to make the roster.

Mulipola, a junior, was one of four current or former Arizona players to try out for the national team. Ex-Wildcats Chelsea Goodacre, Mo Mercado and Danielle O’Toole did not make the cut.

Mulipola is coming off a 2018 season in which she hit .313 with 12 home runs and 36 RBI in 59 games. Behind the plate she committed just two errors while throwing out eight baserunners, earning her second-team all-Pac-12 honors and a spot on the conference’s all-defensive team.

Arizona begins the 2019 season Feb. 8 at the USF Wilson-Demarini Tournament in Tampa, Fla. The Wildcats’ first game at renovated Hillenbrand Stadium is scheduled for Feb. 14.
