Nick Foles takes over as Eagles QB for Carson Wentz

Could history repeat itself for the former Arizona Wildcats star?

Former Arizona Wildcats quarterback and defending Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles could start for the Philadephia Eagles this weekend due to a back injury to starting QB Carson Wentz.

This would be the second time in as many years Foles has had to step in for an injured Wentz, who tore his ACL last November. Foles took over and led the Eagles to their first Super Bowl title. Foles started the 2018 season as the starter while Wentz finished his rehab, going 1-1 against the Atlanta Falcons and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Foles played for Arizona from 2009-2011 and is the school’s career passing leader. He was drafted by the Eagles, went to the Pro Bowl in his second year as a pro, and then bounced around the league before ending up in Philadelphia again in 2017, ending up as Super Bowl LII MVP.

The Eagles face the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday night and then finish the season with games against the Houston Texans and Washington Redskins. They are two games back of the Dallas Cowboys for the NFC East lead and half-game behind the Minnesota Vikings for the final NFC Wild Card spot.
