Arizona no longer in running for CJ Walker, James Wiseman

While the Arizona Wildcats may be getting some very good news on Thursday, Wednesday’s recruiting updates weren’t as positive.

Both 5-star center James Wiseman and 4-star forward CJ Walker, both of whom had Arizona on their short lists, made cuts on Wednesday and the Wildcats were dropped in both cases.

Wiseman had Arizona in his top eight in late July while Walker listed the Wildcats among his top five in mid-August.

It wasn’t all bad news Wednesday. Five-star wing Josh Green plans to announce his college choice on Thursday, with Arizona in his final six along with the Kansas Jayhawks, North Carolina Tar Heels, UNLV Runnin’ Rebels, USC Trojans and Villanova Wildcats.

Green is set to take an official visit to Arizona on Oct. 13 for the Red-Blue Game. A commitment from him would go toward coach Sean Miller’s goal of having five or six signees in the 2019 class, with three or four coming in the November signing period.

Arizona currently has two 2019 commitments: 5-star guard Nico Mannion and 3-star center Christian Koloko.
