Arizona Wildcats forward Ira Lee cited for DUI
Sophomore forward Ira Lee was cited for driving under the influence over the weekend, according to a statement released by the Arizona Wildcats athletic department on Tuesday.
Arizona sophomore men’s basketball forward Ira Lee was cited and released for driving under the influence on Saturday, August 18. The incident has been referred to the Dean of Students for review under the University’s student code of conduct, and the Athletics Department is reviewing the incident for team consequences. Students also have access to counseling and other support services.
The 6-foot-7 Lee appeared in 27 games for the Wildcats last season as a freshman, averaging 2.4 points and 2.3 rebounds. He is expected to take on a much larger role this winter with Arizona having to replace its entire starting lineup.
What Lee’s citation means for his status with the team is unclear. Arizona is set to open the 2018-19 season on Nov. 7 at home against Houston Baptist, with its annual Red-Blue scrimmage set for Oct. 14.
