Nick Foles wins ESPY for Best Championship Performance

What a year it’s been for the former Arizona quarterback

Nick Foles is a Super Bowl champion, Super Bowl MVP, New York Times best seller and, now, an ESPY winner.

The Philadelphia Eagles quarterback won the ESPY for the Best Championship Performance on Wednesday.

The former Arizona Wildcat threw for 373 yards and three touchdowns in a Super Bowl victory over Tom Brady and the New England Patriots last February. Foles was named Super Bowl MVP.

He engineered a 75-yard scoring drive that was capped off by a game-winning 11-yard touchdown pass with 2:21 left.

Foles also caught a touchdown pass on a crucial 4th-and-goal play that put Philadelphia up 22-12 just before halftime, making him the first QB to ever throw and catch a touchdown pass in the Super Bowl.

A legendary performance, indeed.

“I am honored to be in front of all y’all. To my teammates, we’ve faced so much adversity this year. I couldn’t have done it without y’all. We won the first Super Bowl in Philadelphia history so we have a special group of guys,” Foles said after receiving his ESPY.

“The Philadelphia fans, you get a bad rap but the passion, you guys bring it every day. Thank you. To the kids out there, there will be people out there that doubt you, but they can never measure what’s in here [points to heart] and the people that love you. Go out there and be bold!”

Other finalists for the ESPY were Astros outfielder George Springer, Warriors forward Kevin Durant, and Villanova big man Donte DiVencenzo.

Foles is in an interesting spot heading into the 2018 season. Fellow Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz, who was an MVP candidate before he suffered a season-ending injury late last season, is expected to return and reclaim the starting job, meaning Foles will likely be a backup in the final year of his contract.

The Cleveland Browns, among other teams, reportedly tried to trade for Foles, but the Eagles are in no hurry to give him up.

This is the man that led them to their first Super Bowl victory, after all
