Arizona linebacker Jose Ramirez to transfer, per report

The Florida native redshirted in 2017

Arizona Wildcats linebacker/defensive end Jose Ramirez is transferring, according to Michael Lev of the Arizona Daily Star.

The 6-foot-2, 240-pound Ramirez redshirted in 2017 and never appeared in a game with the Wildcats. He was a three-star recruit of Auburndale High School in Florida. Ramirez was originally committed to South Alabama, before flipping to Arizona.

The UA now has eight scholarship linebackers, and 15 scholarships to use for 2019 recruiting, per our Gabe Encinas.

The Wildcats have lost several players to transfer this offseason, which is common any time there is a head coaching change.

Tight end Trevor Wood left for Texas A&M. Offensive lineman Maisen Knight returned to junior college. Defensive end Francisco Nelson III went to Campbell, quarterback Brandon Dawkins transferred to Indiana, and defensive lineman Marcus Griffin departed for Central Michigan.

Arizona did add Texas A&M offensive lineman Robert Congel via transfer
