Kadeem Allen to sign with New York Knicks

Allen is joining Allonzo Trier in the Big Apple

The New York Knicks have signed Kadeem Allen, the team announced Wednesday. The terms of the contract are unknown.

Allen was released by the Boston Celtics earlier in the month.

Boston selected Allen with the 53rd overall pick in 2017, and he spent his rookie season on a two-way contract with the Celtics.

Allen averaged 17.7 PPG, 5.5 RPG, 4.9 APG, and 2.2 SPG in 34 contests with the Maine Red Claws and was a member of the G League All-Defensive Team. He also appeared in 18 games with the Celtics, including one start. He averaged 1.1 PPG.

Allen appeared in five Las Vegas Summer League games with the Celtics this month, and averaged 2.8 PPG and 1.8 APG.

Coming off a 29-win season, the Knicks are in rebuilding mode unlike the Celtics, so it will be interesting to see if Allen can carve out a role with the NBA club.

Allen will join former Arizona teammate Allonzo Trier in the Big Apple. Trier inked a two-way contract with the Knicks after going undrafted.
