Allonzo Trier starts, scores 15 points in Knicks debut
Lots of playing time for the undrafted free agent
Allonzo Trier is getting ample time to showcase his skills at Summer League.
The former Arizona Wildcats guard started and played a team-high 30 minutes in the New York Knicks’ 91-89 win over the Atlanta Hawks.
Trier scored 15 points on 12 shots. He was 0-of-3 from 3, but went 5-of-6 at the free throw line. He also had six rebounds, four assists, three steals, and a turnover.
Trier squared off against a Hawks backcourt that featured ex-Oklahoma star Trae Young and former Oregon Ducks/UA commit Tyler Dorsey. Young had 21 points on 12 shots. Dorsey had 15 points on 21 shots.
Here are Trier’s highlights:
Trier, who went undrafted, signed a two-way contract with the Knicks, so he will be spending most of his rookie season in the G League, though he is allowed to be with the parent club for up to 45 days.
Here is how Twitter evaluated his Summer League debut:
Allonzo Trier isn’t knocking down his shots but he’s had a few great passes

Williams looked great. Going to love having his energy off the bench in the regular season.
Trier looked bad in 1Q but slowly started to pick things up and finished with a nice second half.
Dotson great defense and I wanna see him shoot even more next game.
Keep the ball away from Allonzo Trier. He is hell bent on shooting the ball whenever he touch it

Allonzo Trier is absolutely an NBA player and I remain baffled why he didn’t get more buzz. One of the best shooters in the class, plus athleticism, smart player in a dull Zona offensive system. Not just summerscorer.

Alonzo Trier has been the most frustrating player on the floor by far
