2019 Offers
Kwabena Watson
Position: Outside Linebacker
Ranking: 3-star, 680th nationally, 51st ranked OLB (247Sports)
Height/Weight: 6-foot-3, 205 pounds
School/Hometown: Edison High School/Fresno, CA
Offers: Arizona, USC, Oregon, LSU, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Wyoming, Nevada
Notes: You should recognize the school, as it produced Arizona 2018 cornerback signee McKenzie Barnes. Watson is a disruptive force coming off the edge. He finished his junior season with 60 tackles, 18 for loss, and 7 sacks. He has a good frame for him to add more weight. Getting him to a college weight program will do wonders. He would fit in at the Stud backer position due to his violent pass-rushing ability. It’ll be interesting to see how his recruitment goes but I expect him to blow up this spring/summer.
Sean Rhyan
Position: Offensive Tackle
Ranking: 4-star, 62nd nationally, 10th ranked OT (247Sports)
Height/Weight: 6-foot-5, 302 pounds
School/Hometown: San Juan Hills High School/San Juan Capistrano, CA
Offers: Arizona, Washington, USC, Oregon, UCLA, Stanford, Utah, California, Oregon State, Alabama, Notre Dame, South Carolina
Notes: There is a reason Rhyan has the offer list he does. He is a physical monster along the line of scrimmage, imposing his will with ease. He has a very nasty side to him and that is something you want in an offensive lineman. He has great hand placement and his footwork is neat, tidy, and where it needs to be. The ‘Cats will have their work cut out for them in this recruitment but they will definitely attempt to recruit him hard.
Cameron Williams
Position: Outside Linebacker
Ranking: 4-star, 312th nationally, 19th ranked OLB (247Sports)
Height/Weight: 6-foot-3, 205 pounds
School/Hometown: Andrean High School/Merrillville, IN
Offers: Arizona, Indiana, Syracuse, Iowa State, Boston College, Purdue, Northern Illinois
Notes: Williams is another player I could see fitting in at Stud backer if he were to choose the ‘Cats. He is explosive and is quick off the ball. He is strong and has the moves necessary to shed blocks and attack the quarterback. A year in a college weight program will only help him. Arizona may have a better chance of landing him then anyone thinks they do, even if more schools getting involved.
Name: Justin Britt
Position: Offensive Guard
Ranking: 3-star, 461st nationally, 17th ranked OG (247Sports)
Height/Weight: 6-foot-4, 267 pounds
School/Hometown: Warren Central High School/Indianapolis, IN
Offers: Arizona, Iowa, Louisville, Michigan State, Minnesota, Missouri, Purdue, Cincinnati, Vanderbilt
Notes: The Midwest produces some pretty solid linemen and Britt can be added to the list. He can play inside at guard or moved to tackle. Britt’s biggest attribute is the physicality he brings and the nasty edge to his game. He has pretty great hand placement but his feet are a tad sluggish. He doesn’t let that stop him as he has some real strength and can control his body. He continues to engage his man even past the line of scrimmage. On the recruiting side, it’ll be interesting to see how Arizona does in this recruitment.
David Bell
Position: Wide Receiver
Ranking: 4-star, 104th nationally, 18th ranked WR (247Sports)
Height/Weight: 6-foot-2, 185 pounds
School/Hometown: Warren Central High School/Indianapolis, IN
Offers: Arizona, Ohio State, Iowa, Indiana, Penn State, Purdue, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Michigan State
Notes: Britt’s teammate, Bell is a pretty impressive WR prospect. He has great footwork and his routes are nice and crisp. He has really good hands and field vision. The biggest attributes that stand out to me are his agility and speed. Once he has the ball in is hands, he kicks it into another gear and can outrun almost anyone. His agility makes him someone who is very difficult to tackle. His speed and elusiveness are just flat out impressive. Recruiting wise, Bell is going to be a very hard pull for Arizona.
Keontae Burns
Position: Athlete
Ranking: 3-star, 651st nationally, 59th ranked ATH (247Sports)
Height/Weight: 6-foot-3, 177 pounds
School/Hometown: Pittsburg High School/Pittsburg, TX
Offers: Arizona, Arkansas, Alabama, Baylor, Houston, Nebraska, Iowa State, Minnesota, SMU, Texas Tech
Notes: Burns is a really solid prospect and will most likely be a 4-star before everything is said and done. He has really strong hands and tracks the ball through the air which helps him at receiver and safety. He has pretty solid concentration, able to pull down passes with DBs all over him. Defensively, he is a hard-hitting safety who punishes any ball carrier he can get to. Much like Bell above, he kicks it into a different gear once he has the ball in his hands. There is going to be some stiff competition for Arizona in this one.
Jermaine Johnson
Position: Weak-side Defensive End
Ranking (JuCo): 4-star, 4th nationally, 2nd ranked WDE (247Sports)
Height/Weight: 6-foot-6, 240 pounds
School/Hometown: Eden Prairie High School/Eden Prairie, MN
JuCo: Independence Community College, KS
Offers: Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, Oregon, USC, UCLA, Utah, Georgia, Illinois, UCF, TCU, Louisville
Notes: Johnson has a really high motor and, coupled with his long arms, he is able to shed blocks and relentlessly pursue the quarterback. He is long, athletic, and fast off of the edge. Academic issues were why Johnson had to go the JuCo route, but now that he has those worked out he is garnering a ton of attention. Arizona has a really good chance in this recruitment. Cornerback coach Demetrice Martin’s brother is the defensive coordinator at Independence so there is that connection there.
Jalen Wiliams
Position: Outside Linebacker
Ranking: 3-star, 1,287th nationally, 106th ranked OLB (247Sports)
Height/Weight: 6-foot-2, 180 pounds
School/Hometown: Shadow Mountain High School/Phoenix, AZ
Offers: Arizona, Washington State, San Diego State, Wyoming, Fresno State, Nevada
Notes: Even though 247Sports has Williams listed as a linebacker, he projects more as a safety at the next level. He also plays receiver for Shadow Mountain and those skills help him defensively. He has good hands to go along with pretty solid coverage skills. He is a hard hitter and punishes opposing ball carriers. He visited UA in April and really enjoyed his trip. As of now, I am comfortable saying Arizona is the leader in this recruitment.
2020 Offers
Xavier Carlton
Position: Strong-side Defensive End
Ranking: 4-star, 165th nationally, 7th ranked SDE (247Sports)
Height/Weight: 6-foot-6, 235 pounds
School/Hometown: Modesto Christian High School/Modesto, CA
Offers: Arizona, Arizona State, Utah, USC, Stanford, California, Fresno State, Iowa State
Notes: Carlton has garnered a lot of attention this offseason and it’s not all that surprising. He had himself a pretty solid sophomore season for Modesto Christian last year; racking up 82 tackles, 8 for a loss, and 6 sacks. As a sophomore it is impressive to see how he was able to diagnose a play while engaging the offensive line. Once the ball carrier was near him, he disengaged and pounced. It’s still pretty early in his recruitment so there is plenty of time for Arizona to make it’s move.
Noah Nelson
Position: Offensive Tackle
Ranking: 3-star, 298th nationally, 34th ranked OT (247Sports)
Height/Weight: 6-foot-7, 295 pounds
School/Hometown: Williams Field High School/Gilbert, AZ
Offers: Arizona, Arizona State, Memphis, Louisiana-Lafayette
Notes: First of all, Nelson is the son of former UA lineman Byron Nelson, who was drafted by New Orleans Saints in 1984. The younger Nelson is a rather large human being sitting at 6-foot-7 and 295 pounds. He has a ton of strength to go with that size and he is able to overpower his opponents with relative ease. His technique is unrefined and raw but he has time to grow as he is just now heading into his junior season. He will undoubtedly be one of the best prospects in the state by the time he graduates.
