Solomon Hill (hamstring) makes season debut for New Orleans Pelicans
The former Wildcat missed the first 69 games with a torn hamstring
Sunday was Solomon Hill’s 27th birthday.
He got a very nice present.
The New Orleans Pelicans forward made his season debut after missing the first 69 games with a torn hamstring.
The former Arizona Wildcat only played eight minutes and recorded an assist in New Orleans’ 108-89 win over the Boston Celtics, but he will add depth down the stretch to a Pelicans team that is vying for a playoff spot.
“He’s a good player. If he’s a good player, he’s going to help us regardless of what the situation is,” Pelicans coach Alvin Gentry said (via the Times-Picayune).
“To have him back, he’s a guy that started for us all last year. He was a good perimeter defender and a 3-point shooter. To have that guy back is going to help the team because he can cut minutes for the rest of the guys.”
Despite losing star center DeMarcus Cousins to a season-ending Achilles injury in January, the Pelicans are 40-30 this season, holding a two-game lead for the eighth seed in the Western Conference.
Hill came off the bench Sunday, but he started in 71 games last season. Hill averaged 7.8 points in New Orleans last season. He is in the second year of a four-year, $48 million contract.
