Evansville grad transfer Ryan Taylor on Arizona’s radar

The 6-foot-5 wing averaged 21.2 points per game this past season

The Arizona Wildcats have been in contact with Evansville graduate transfer Ryan Taylor, according to ESPN’s Jeff Goodman.

A 6-foot-5 wing, Taylor averaged 21.2 points and 3.8 rebounds per game this past season as a redshirt junior. The Gary, Indiana native shot 42 percent from the field, 42 percent from 3, and 86 percent from the free-throw line.

Taylor missed a handful of games early in the season after suffering a foot fracture. Like nearly every grad transfer, he can play immediately and will have one year of eligibility at his new school.

As you can see from Goodman’s tweet, there are a countless number of schools pursuing Taylor.

It is no surprise to see Arizona in the mix. The Wildcats can add up to seven players this offseason and currently have zero 2018 commits, so they are expected to be heavily involved in the transfer market.

Taylor could start immediately at shooting guard or small forward for the Wildcats, who only return reserves Brandon Randolph, Emmanuel Akot, and Dylan Smith at those positions.

Evansville had the 30th-best defensive efficiency in the country this past season, allowing just 96.6 points per 100 possessions. But it surrendered 100.6 points per 100 possessions when Taylor was on the court.

Taylor also ranked dead last on Evansville in defensive box plus/minus (-1.7).
