Arizona DL Marcus Griffin to graduate, transfer from the program

The Washington native will be eligible to play immediately at his new school

Arizona Wildcats defensive lineman Marcus Griffin will transfer from the program, he announced Tuesday on Twitter.

The redshirt junior will graduate in the spring and be eligible to play immediately at whichever school he decides to attend.

“I am blessed and excited to have a fresh start at another program for my senior year,” he wrote.

His announcement isn’t a surprise as Griffin was honored with the rest of UA’s seniors throughout the season.

The 6-foot-3, 305-pound Washington native was one of UA’s highest-rated recruits in the 2014 class, but never made much of an impact with the Wildcats, despite UA’s lack of defensive line depth.

Griffin appeared in 11 games in his career in Tucson, tallying five tackles (one for a loss) which were all made this season.

It will not only be interesting to see where he ends up, but also what type of player he is for his new school.

Coming out of high school, Griffin had offers from schools like Notre Dame, Washington, Mississippi State, Cal, and Washington State among others.
