Dane Cruikshank makes Pro Football Focus’ Pac-12 Team of the Week

The safety was one of the few bright spots in defense vs. USC

There weren’t many bright spots on defense for the Arizona Wildcats’ in their 49-35 loss to the USC Trojans on Saturday, but there was at least one.

That’s Dane Cruikshank.

The redshirt senior safety had an interception and 10 tackles against the Trojans, leading him to be named to Pro Football Focus’ Pac-12 Team of the Week.

(PFF lists him as a cornerback for whatever reason).

It’s Cruikshank’s first time getting the honor the season.

The “spur” safety has recorded eight or more tackles in each of the past three games, and has 53 tackles on the season, good for fourth on the team.

Cruikshank’s interception was crucial for keeping the Wildcats in the game Saturday. The redshirt senior stepped in front of a Sam Darnold pass in the end zone, helping UA avoid an early 14-0 deficit.

However, aside from that play, Arizona’s defense struggled for most of the night, as USC tallied over 600 yards.

Don’t blame Cruikshank for that, though.
