These Wildcats stood out on Senior Night

The Arizona Wildcats took care of business Saturday night, downing the Oregon State Beavers 49-28 on Senior Night.

To boot, they broke a school record for rushing yards in a single-game (534), less than a year removed from breaking it against the school up north.

So without further delay, here are the players of the game.

Offense: The Offensive Line

It’s about time this happens. The offensive line played a darn-near perfect game Saturday against Oregon State.

The stellar blocking for both running and passing helped the skill players do what they do. And because of this, Arizona rather easily obtained a new single game rushing record with 534 yards (passing the previous of 511 yards against ASU last year).

The big boys up front don’t really get too much credit. However, tonight, they will. What an effort by the guys in the trenches.

Defense: Colin Schooler, LB

Game Stats: 6 tackles, 3.0 TFL, 2.0 sacks, 1 PBU

On a night dedicated to the seniors, it was a true freshman who stood out the most on defense.

Schooler pretty much built himself a house in the offensive backfield all game. I vaguely remember a play where he wasn’t in the backfield in someone’s face. He also made some really solid tackles while coming up and playing the run.

There was one play were he came in so fast, that his momentum propelled him into Darell Garretson for a sack.

For good measure, Schooler made an almost identical play that won UA the Cal game in overtime. He smacked a ball out of Noah Togiai’s hands. Schooler is relentless.

Special Teams: Josh Pollack, K/P

There weren’t many opportunities for UA’s special teams. However, Pollack knocked through all seven of his PAT attempts and blasted his only punt 44 yards, pinning Oregon State inside the 20.

Honorable Mention

Dereck Boles, DT: 7 tackles, 1.0 TFL — Boles was extremely disruptive all game. He was getting major push almost every play he was in and was able to shed blocks to bring down any running back that passed by him.

Khalil Tate, QB: 5-for-7, 68 yds, 0 TD, 1 INT; 16 car, 206 yds, 2 TD — Khalil Tate did Khalil Tate things all night. He also managed to break a tackle and carry a guy for 5-7 yards on his 19-yard touchdown run. He also ran for a 72-yard touchdown. His only blemish was his interception.

Nick Wilson, RB: 17 car, 101 yards, 1 TD — Wilson looked really good Saturday night. He ran hard every time he had the ball and showed the vision and explosiveness that has been missing for some time now. He had a J.J. Taylor-esque juke and spin move on a 24-yard run that set UA up inside the 10-yard line.

J.J. Taylor, RB: 10 car, 129 yards, 0 TD -- Speaking of Taylor, he looked as elusive as ever. He proved to be difficult for the Beavers to wrap up and bring down. He also blew through the middle of the field for a 56-yard run.

Oh and Zach Green is automatic inside the 10-yard line, rushing for two short yardage touchdowns.
