Arizona basketball recruiting: R.J. Barrett meets with Sean Miller, will visit Wildcats this weekend
Barrett will start his official visit at Arizona on Sept. 21
A day after an in-home visit with Nassir Little in Orlando, Sean Miller took a short drive to Montverde Academy to meet with R.J. Barrett, the top player in the 2018 class, according to ZagsBlog.com.
“He was just talking to me, I’m going on a visit this weekend,” Barrett said of the Arizona Wildcats’ head coach. “He was just talking about how the school looks and stuff like that, trying to build a relationship.”
As Barrett said, he will take his official visit to Arizona this week, starting Sept. 21.
The 6-foot-6 Canadian visited the Duke Blue Devils this past weekend, and visited the Kentucky Wildcats at the beginning of September.
After visiting Arizona, Barrett will wrap up his official visits with trips to Oregon and Michigan, which round out his five preferred schools.
Barrett was originally a 2019 prospect, but he reclassified to 2018 back in July, and is considered a favorite to be the top pick in the 2019 NBA Draft.
Barrett has not set a date for his commitment yet, but that could happen soon after his official visit to Michigan on the weekend of Sept. 29.
“Once the visits are over, that’ll come the real crunch time,” Barrett told ZagsBlog.com.
Arizona was considered a leader for Barrett in July, but 247Sports’ Crystal Ball pegs Duke and Kentucky as the favorites to land the Canadian.
