Anu Solomon out as Baylor’s starting quarterback

Well, that didn’t take long

Well, that didn’t take long.

After losing to Liberty and UTSA, the Baylor Bears have benched quarterback Anu Solomon, head coach Matt Rhule announced Monday.

Sophomore quarterback Zach Smith will take over the position.

Solomon was 24 for 55 for 399 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions in his two starts with the Bears.

The former Arizona Wildcat was just 10 for 26 for 121 yards, a touchdown and an interception this past weekend in a 17-10 loss to UTSA.

He was also sacked four times.

Solomon told reporters he needed to do “everything” better.

“To my reads, to my throws downfield. I wasn’t connecting,” he said after the game. “Receivers were ready to play today. I just wasn’t connecting with them.”

The senior transferred to Baylor this January after it became clear he was falling out of favor at Arizona.

Now Solomon finds himself as the No. 2 quarterback at Baylor while the Arizona Wildcats are still struggling to find their own answers at the position.
