Rawle Alkins injury: Arizona Wildcats guard misses Spain exhibition with strained left shoulder

Brandon Randolph got the start in his place

Arizona Wildcats guard Rawle Alkins was ruled out for the team’s exhibition against the Mataro All-Stars in Spain on Wednesday with a strained left shoulder, the UA announced just prior to tip-off.

The injury doesn’t appear to be serious, as the UA’s Twitter account said Alkins is sitting out for precautionary reasons.

Freshman Brandon Randolph, who led Arizona in scoring in its first exhibition, got the start in Alkins’ place.

Alkins had 14 points in Arizona’s first exhibition in Spain on Sunday. It is not known if Alkins will play in Arizona’s Spain exhibition finale on Friday.

As you can see in the picture used for this story, Alkins had kinesio tape on his left shoulder in the NCAA Tournament last season, perhaps signaling that this isn’t the first time it’s bothered him.

Alkins also suffered a broken right finger in the NCAA Tournament last year, though he played through it.
