College basketball recruiting: 5-star forward Naz Reid to choose between Arizona and LSU

Jahvon Quinerly is Reid’s AAU teammate

Five-star forward Naz Reid will choose between the Arizona Wildcats and LSU Tigers, he announced Friday on Twitter.

Reid, a 6-foot-9 forward from Roselle, New Jersey, is the No. 10 player in the 2018 class and No. 3 power forward.

Reid is AAU teammates with UA commit Jahvon Quinerly, and Reid said earlier in the recruitment process that the two have talked about playing with each other.

“Yeah, no doubt we could go to school together,” Reid said. “I love the way he plays, he love the way I play. He’s like my brother. Of course, we talk about a lot together.

Arizona is set to lose a bulk of its frontcourt after the 2017-18 season, so Reid would be able to make an impact, if not start, immediately in Tucson.

Here is what DraftExpress.com wrote about the big man:

Another young big man with a physically mature frame, Roselle Catholic (NJ)'s Nazreon Reid doesn't look like a 17 year old and has been a force for UAA power SportsU so far this spring. Standing 6'10 in shoes with a 250-some pound frame and a 7'1 wingspan, Reid's measurements line up fair well with those we have on him from last summer. His dimensions are similar to those of Blake Griffin who measured 6'10 in shoes with a 6'11.5 wingspan and a 248-pound frame at the 2009 NBA Draft Combine when he was coming out of Oklahoma.

Reid officially visited LSU on June 30, but has not visited Arizona yet. Surely, the Wildcats will get him on campus at some point, though.

Here are Reid’s junior year highlights:
