Arizona football: Trevin Wade signs with Baltimore Ravens

Another Wildcat earning an NFL contract

There are now 16 former Arizona Wildcats in the NFL, as Trevin Wade has been signed by the Baltimore Ravens.

Wade was with the New York Giants for the 2015 and 2016 seasons, but became an unrestricted free agent this spring.

He had a veteran tryout with the Chicago Bears earlier this offseason.

Wade, a seventh-round draft pick in the 2012 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns, was a four-year contributor at Arizona. He finished his career with 182 total tackles, 12 interceptions and two touchdowns.

The former two-star recruit majored in economics and personal finance at Arizona, and has just recently completed his masters in secondary education at Grand Canyon University. In the offseason, he teaches math at Mesa School District.

Wade has played a total of 47 games in the NFL, totaling 95 tackles and 11 pass deflections.

This is now Wade’s fifth team since entering the league in 2012. He played one season with the Cleveland Browns, landing with the New Orleans Saints for a season before getting cut and picked up by the Detroit Lions. He finally found some stability in New York where he earned a two-year, $1.2 million contract.

To date, Wade has earned over $2 million in the NFL.

Just last week, the Green Bay Packers signed Aiulua Fanene to a deal, where he will join another former Arizona Wildcat, Reggie Gilbert, on the defensive line.
