NBA Summer League guide for Arizona Wildcats fans: Day 5 recap & Day 6 preview
It was a rough day for the former Wildcats
Wednesday was an uneventful day for the former Arizona Wildcats participating in NBA Summer League.
In Orlando, Gabe York and Brandon Ashley did not play in their respective games because of a “coach’s decision.”
Thursday is the last day of Orlando Summer League, so we’ll see if York and Ashley get another crack at it.
If not, York will have an opportunity with the Los Angeles Lakers in Las Vegas Summer League starting July 7.
York and the Charlotte Hornets take on the Orlando Magic at 7 a.m. PST. Ashley and the Dallas Mavericks play at 11 a.m. PST. Both games will be broadcast on NBATV.
York is averaging 3.3 points per game on 28.6 percent shooting in Summer League. Ashley is averaging 8.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game.
Tarczewski not winning over fans in Utah Summer League
Kaleb Tarczewski had a nightmare of a game in Utah for the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday.
The 7-footer went scoreless in 13 minutes and had a team-worst -14 plus/minus as Philadelphia lost to the Jazz, 100-94. Tarczewski did not attempt a shot or free throw but did grab five rebounds.
That wasn’t enough to appease Sixer fans:
Caleb Tarwhatevertheheck is by far the worst Summer Sixer I've ever watched

Kaleb Tarczewski just got called for basket interference on a free throw, somebody get this dude outta here

Watching him run pick and roll is excruciating

How is he even on the roster? Genuine question. Worst player I think I’ve ever seen on this level.

The good news for Tarczewski is Olimpia Milano, the Italian club he played for last year, exercised its option to keep the big man next season. He will also be participating in Las Vegas Summer League with the New Orleans Pelicans starting July 7.
Tarczewski and the Sixers complete Utah Summer League play Thursday with a matchup against the San Antonio Spurs. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m. PST.
Kadeem Allen and the Boston Celtics lost to the Spurs 80-71 on Wednesday.
Like Tarczewski, Allen did not record a point, and he only took one shot in 18 minutes. The only other stats he had were three rebounds and two turnovers.
Boston takes on Utah in its Utah Summer League finale. That game tips off at 6 p.m. PST and will be shown on NBATV.
