Arizona basketball: Olimpia Milano exercises option to keep Kaleb Tarczewski

The Italian club isn’t ready to let Zeus go

As Kaleb Tarczewski tries to find a new home in the NBA, his current team has decided it isn’t ready to let him go.

EA7 Emporio Armani Milano — also known as Olimpia Milano — exercised its option to keep the 7-footer in Italy, reports David Pick.

The former Wildcat originally signed with Olimpia Milano last March after opting out of his contract with the Oklahoma City Blue, the Thunder’s G League affiliate.

Generally, when American players sign overseas they are able to opt out of their contract if an opportunity with an NBA team presents itself, which likely explains why Tarczewski is participating in NBA Summer League this July.

Tarczewski is playing for the Philadelphia 76ers in Utah Summer League and is slated to play for the New Orleans Pelicans in Las Vegas Summer League.

The 24-year-old appeared in 15 games for Olimpia Milano and started in 12 of them, averaging 6.7 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 0.5 blocks in 14.7 minutes.

Tarczewski shot 58.3 percent from the field and 66.7 percent from the charity stripe as the club posted a 32-25 record.

According to its Wikipedia page, Olimpia Milano is the “most titled basketball club in Italy, having won 27 Italian League championships, 6 Italian National Cups, 1 Italian Super Cup, 3 EuroLeague, 1 FIBA Intercontinental Cup, 3 FIBA Saporta Cups, 2 FIBA Korać Cups and many junior titles.”

Here were Tarczewski’s top five plays with the team:

The big man’s stint with the Sixers continues Wednesday at 4 p.m. PST as they face the Utah Jazz.

Las Vegas Summer League begins July 7.
