Arizona football: Wildcats have lowest APR score among Pac-12 programs

Still well above the penalty line though

Ah May. Graduations are happening across the country, which means that the NCAA releases their APR (academic progress rate) reports.

While none of the Arizona Wildcats varsity programs are anywhere near the penalty line of 930, there’s this that has bad optics.

Arizona football has the lowest score among Pac-12 schools:

The 955 score actually nets Rich Rodriguez a $25,000 bonus.

According to the full Arizona report, the Wildcats’ football program is actually in the 30th-40th percentile rank among all NCAA football programs despite being 12th in their 12 team conference.

Every SEC school appears to score higher than Arizona. On the flip side, half the Big 12 scored lower than UA.

Also, U of A does not have the lowest score among football programs in the state. That distinction belongs to NAU:

So sure, critics of the football program will point to Arizona having the lowest APR score in the conference as another thing to complain about or use as evidence for their point. But looking at the big picture of the entire sport, UA really isn’t in that bad of spot with it.

Also, still nowhere near the penalty line.
