Arizona football recruiting: Linebacker Jose Ramirez commits to Wildcats

A new commitment for Arizona on Christmas Eve.

The Arizona Wildcats have added a new linebacker commit on Christmas Eve. Jose Ramirez, a 6-foot-3, 195 pound prospect from Auburndale Senior in Florida tweeted out that he will be going to Arizona.

If Auburndale sounds familiar, that’s because it is the same school that Jessie Britt attended.

The commitment is curious because Ramirez had committed to the South Alabama Jaguars less than two weeks prior to this decision.

According to MaxPreps, Ramirez had 114 tackles this year in 11 games played, including 6.5 TFLs. He also had half a sack, a pass deflection, forced fumble, and a blocked punt in 2016. His Hudl highlight film lists stats that are higher than those.

Based on his highlights, Ramirez would likely come to Arizona as an edge rusher option that could be used at linebacker or safety. Often times he’s the one making plays on short passes in the flat.

This currently gives Arizona 24 members in its 2017 recruiting class, including Sione Taufahema, who has already signed.
