Arizona football recruiting: Four-star linebacker Antjuan Simmons officially visiting Tucson

Is Arizona in the mix for a four-star linebacker?

The Arizona Wildcats will have a handful of visitors on campus this weekend, including four-star linebacker Antjuan Simmons, a former Ohio State commit.

Simmons hails from Pioneer High School (Ann Arbor, MI) and holds offers to Georgia, LSU, Miami, Michigan, and Washington among others. He seems to have Michigan State, Notre Dame, and Arizona in his final list of schools. He is currently ranked No. 314 in the nation, No. 20 among outside linebackers.

It's encouraging to see such a highly ranked prospect come out to visit, especially after seeing both Ohio State and Michigan State previously and having so many blue-blood offers.

Marcel Yates and Chris Singletary have led the charge and they're making a big pitch on early playing time, something no other school can offer him at the moment. They visited him earlier this season, and made an in-home prior to the recruiting dead period.

It’s still a little foggy, but it appears as if Ohio State backed off of their commitment after putting themselves in position to secure two other linebackers. I have Notre Dame as my Crystal Ball pick but Michigan State certainly has a strong case as well.

Talking to some Notre Dame insiders, there was a previous issue with exam scores or classes that needed to be worked out. Whether those have been addressed are unknown, but he did express a lot of interest in the Irish throughout his commitment to Ohio State. The general feeling is that he stays in the midwest.

There is some intrigue for Arizona and something could potentially happen here. For now, I'm keeping my pick at Notre Dame but I think it is something that could very well change to either Arizona or Michigan State.
