Arizona football recruiting: Wildcat commits entertaining other offers
Could we see some more decommits coming?
The news of Donté Williams assuming the role as cornerbacks coach for the Nebraska Cornhuskers has certainly caused some panic concerning the Arizona Wildcats’ top 25 recruiting class.
While the departure has left both players and recruits disgruntled, there appear to be some guys who are entertaining other offers. However, none of them so far were recruited by Williams. These just seem to be totally separate interests.
Jalen Harris exploring Colorado and Illinois
While the Donté Williams departure really doesn’t affect him, Harris’ father, former Desert Swarm linebacker Sean Harris, wants him to just consider some other options. Harris committed to Arizona late this summer over Arizona State and Oregon, but his father notes Colorado and Illinois as schools of interest in an interview with AZCentral’s Richard Obert.
Colorado is certainly the hot option right now, and Lovie Smith draws some intrigue for the Harris family. It is a little concerning seeing a double legacy recruit being told by his father to look elsewhere.
Delshawn Phillips looking into Illinois offer
Arizona is going to be competing with Illinois for another linebacker commit, Delshawn Phillips, the leading tackler of the National Champion Garden City Broncos.
Phillips acted fast on his Arizona offer, and like a lot of recruits, they appreciate it when UA is one of the first schools to offer them, showing them how much faith the staff really has in them. But now it seems as if a relationship established with Illini Head Coach Lovie Smith could make things interesting.
Phillips will be enrolling in January, so if a decommit were to even happen it would have to be in the next few weeks.
Got a ring and a call from Lovie Smith, what a weekend‼️ Thankful for the opportunity Illi‼️ http://pic.twitter.com/MRDPjYn7L3

Austin Faoliu attracting Pac-12 schools
Arizona State and Washington State have been showing the 6-foot-3, 280 pound defensive tackle a lot of attention over the last few weeks. While I don’t think Arizona State is much of a concern, I do see some sort of threat in Washington State.
I wrote about it not too long ago, where Arizona safety commit Xavier Bell and Faoliu were trying to get their Mater Dei teammate Fa’avae Fa’avae to Arizona. He has since committed to Washington State and appears to be recruiting Faoliu to join him to help reinvigorate an anemic defensive line in Pullman.
Had a great Home Visit with Washington State University. Coach Salave'a and Coach Nickel were family.#GOCOUGS http://pic.twitter.com/vh7oU8RK7k

Matt Leo picks up flurry of powerful offers
After his second season of college football, Matt Leo has now picked up offers from Mississippi State and Oklahoma, which has also boosted his overall ranking to become the fifth-ranked commit of the class.
I have been told that he is firm on his commitment and will be on campus in January, but the interest from Oklahoma is still worth noting.
Appreciate @CoachThibbs coming down and showing me love today!! #Soonersquad17 http://pic.twitter.com/QeixjGVoVp

Bryce Brand takes visit to Maryland
This seems like a potential decommitment waiting to happen. He took a visit this past weekend and there are three new Crystal Ball pick favoring the Terrapins. From the beginning, I had said that Brand is a guy that I always felt would leave if he got a bigger offer, particularly Michigan or Michigan State. While Maryland isn’t exactly a bigger offer, or maybe it is, it wouldn’t surprise me if he did in fact leave.
