College basketball rankings: Arizona 8th in AP, 9th in Coaches Poll

The Cats keep winning, so they keep inching up the polls

After a perfect 2-0 week, the Arizona Wildcats have moved up to 8th in the AP Poll and remain 9th in the Coaches Poll.

Here’s a look at the complete AP Poll, which has a couple of other Wildcats now in the top two spots:

After losing to Baylor, the Oregon Ducks fell down into a tie for 12th, while the UCLA Bruins are holding at 14. The Gonzaga Bulldogs are Arizona’s next ranked opponent, and the Zags have squeezed up into the 11th spot. Possible Friday opponent Butler is still receiving votes, essentially sitting 35th in the rankings.

In the coaches poll, Arizona doesn’t actually move up because they were leapfrogged by Xavier. Oregon checks in at No. 12, and UCLA is 13th. Gonzaga is also 11th, and Butler is also 35th. Cal State Bakersfield earned a vote in the coaches poll after coming within 12 points of the Wildcats in Tucson.

Arizona returns to the McKale Center floor Monday night to take on Northern Colorado. The Wildcats will then travel to Las Vegas to play Santa Clara on Thursday then either Butler or Vanderbilt on Friday.
