Arizona vs. Oregon State: Wildcats players of the game

There were some bright spots in a tough loss for Arizona in Corvallis

It was another tough loss for the Arizona Wildcats Saturday as they fell to the Oregon State Beavers 42-17 in Corvallis, Oregon.

It was the Wildcats’ eighth straight loss, but there were some Wildcats that stood out.

Offense: Nate Phillips, WR

Game Stats: 6 receptions, 58 yards, 1 TD

Phillips was a solid option all night for the Arizona quarterbacks. He was very good at getting open and caught most passes thrown his way. He also caught his first touchdown pass of the year.

Phillips happened to extend his reception streak to 44 games as well.

Defense: Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles, S

Game Stats: 13 tackles, 8 solo, 1.0 tackles for loss

After having a rough outing last week against the Colorado Buffaloes, DFF had a solid showing Saturday in Corvallis. He led the team with 13 tackles, including a TFL. His solid tackling is a breath of fresh air for a young and inexperienced secondary.

Special Teams: Jake Glatting, P

Yes, you read that right. Glatting, who before last week hadn’t played, had a decent night punting. He had 120 yards on three punts. He was able to pin Oregon State deep in their own territory twice, including a punt that landed at the OSU 6-yard line.

Honorable Mention

Shun Brown, WR

Game Stats: 2 receptions, 57 yds

Shun Brown is really good at football. He made an amazing, jumping 43-yard catch down the field.

Brandon Dawkins, QB

Game Stats: 10-for-17, 106 yds, 1 TD, 1 INT; 15 car, 88 yds, 0 TD

Dawkins wasn’t perfect but was able to move the offense down the field.

Isaiah Hayes, S

Game Stats: 9 tackles, 7 solo

Yes, Hayes did get burned once, but it’s part of the growing pains for a true freshman. He played tough and came up to stop the run multiple times.
