Arizona Wildcats in the NFL: Gronk sets Patriots record and Foles finally sees the field
Gronk sets New England’s touchdown record
Week 8 saw a former Arizona Wildcat see the field for the first time this year, and another one break his team’s touchdown record.
Let’s dive right in and see how the Arizona alumni fared.
Rob Gronkowski, TE (#87), New England Patriots
2016 Stats: 30 rec, 484 yds, 3 TD
Gronk continues to show why he is the best tight end in the NFL. On Sunday, he had another monster game against the Buffalo Bills. He had 109 yards on five catches and a touchdown, his 69th career touchdown. Oh by the way, that breaks the Patriots all-time touchdown record. New England went on to stomp the Bills into the ground, 45-25.
Nick Foles, QB (#4), Kansas City Chiefs
2016 Stats: 16-for-22, 223 yds, 2 TD, 0 INT; 1 car, -1 yd, 0 TD
Foles was finally able to find the field after starter, Alex Smith, left the game with a possible concussion against the Indianapolis Colts. Foles made the most of his opportunity. He had to knock off the rust, but once he did, he made some really nice throws down the field. Kansas City won 30-14 and Foles finished with 223 yards on 16-for-22 passing and two touchdowns.
Nick Folk, K (#2), New York Jets
2016 Stats: FG: 13-for-15 with a long of 48 yards; PAT: 15-for-16
Folk and his New York Jets got into a little bit of a shootout with the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. The Jets, however, ended up coming out on top with a 31-28 win. Folk was 1-for-1 on field goals, making a 24-yarder. He was also a perfect 4-for-4 on PAT attempts.
Will Parks, S (#34), Denver Broncos
2016 Stats: 10 tackles, 1 INT, 1 PBU
The rookie safety did see action in Denver’s 27-19 victory over the San Diego Chargers. He finished the game with two tackles. Parks continues to show that he is a pivotal part of the Bronco defense and that he will be a really solid NFL safety in the future.
Brooks Reed, LB/DE (#50), Atlanta Falcons
2016 Stats: 10 tackles and 1 forced fumble
Reed is having a somewhat solid season for Atlanta. His Falcons took on the Green Bay Packers on Sunday and won a nail-biter, 33-32. Reed recorded only one tackle during the game.
Ka’Deem Carey, RB (#25), Chicago Bears
2016 Stats: 25 car, 110 yds, 0 TD; 3 rec, 27 yds, 0 TD
Carey did not see a lot of action Monday night against the Minnesota Vikings. Instead, the bulk of the carries were given to rookie Jordan Howard, who actually had a really nice game. Carey had three yards on two carries in Chicago’s impressive 20-10 win against Minnesota.
Marquis Flowers, LB (#53), Cincinnati Bengals
2016 Stats: 4 tackles
Flowers did see the field in Cincy’s 27-27 tie with the Washington Redskins on Sunday in London. However, he didn’t record any stats.
Robert Golden, Earl Mitchell, and Trevin Wade all had bye weeks.
