Arizona football injury report: Michael Barton probable, Nick Wilson out vs. Colorado

Arizona’s defense will get a likely boost with the return of Barton

The Arizona Wildcats look to snap a six-game losing streak on Saturday when they’ll host the No. 12 Colorado Buffaloes.

And they’ll do so with a fairly clean injury list. Here is the full report:

Probable: LB Michael Barton (knee)

Questionable: OL Gerhard de Beer (knee)

Doubtful: None

Out: WR/RB Tyrell Johnson (hamstring), RB Nick Wilson (knee)

The major news is that it appears Michael Barton will return for the Wildcats. Barton is fourth on the team in tackles (43) and is tied for the team lead in tackles for loss (5.5). His presence certainly helps Arizona’s linebacker corps.

Barton missed last week’s game versus Washington State.

Cornerback DaVonte’ Neal, who also missed last week’s game, will evidently return too.

Starting right tackle Gerhard de Beer is questionable with a knee injury, and if he is unable to play, redshirt freshman Cody Creason is listed as his backup.

The running back position (expectedly) continues to be hit with injuries. Nick Wilson, who Rich Rodriguez said Monday is likely out for the season, will not suit up against Colorado and neither will Tyrell Johnson (hamstring).

J.J. Taylor remains out for the season, which means converted wide receiver Samajie Grant is in line to make his third start at running back.

Both Brandon Dawkins and Anu Solomon are good to go, but it remains to be see which quarterback will get the starting nod.

Kickoff for Saturday’s game is set for 8 p.m. MST and the game will be televised on Fox Sports 1.
