Arizona basketball: Allonzo Trier reportedly not on flight to Hawai’i
The Wildcats’ star is still in Tucson as eligibility concerns remain
On Tuesday, the Arizona Wildcats traveled from Phoenix to Honolulu for Friday’s Armed Forces Classic clash with the Michigan State Spartans.
Not all the Wildcats traveled though.
According to the Daily Star’s Bruce Pascoe, who was at the airport, Allonzo Trier was not on the team’s flight.
After Sunday’s exhibition game, Sean Miller would not say whether or not Trier would make the trip with the team as questions about his eligibility for this season continue to loom over the program.
Trier, who decided to return to Arizona for his sophomore season instead of declaring for the NBA Draft last year, has not played in either of the team’s two exhibition games, and was a late scratch from Pac-12 Media Day.
So for right now, it appears the Wildcats will take on the Spartans with eight available scholarship players, as Chance Comanche is expected to return from his “indefinite” suspension due to an academics issue.
Arizona and Michigan State are scheduled to tip-off at 5 PM MT on Friday. That game will be shown on ESPN.
