Arizona basketball: Wildcats ranked 11th in preseason Coaches Poll

An early date with a top-ten team is on deck as well

As we inch closer to the 2016-17 college basketball season, the preseason USA Today Coaches Poll has been released.

The Arizona Wildcats check in at No. 11.

Arizona is scheduled to play a couple of the teams that are above them. Of course, the regular season opener against the Michigan State Spartans happens in Honolulu on November 11th. The Wildcats only play the Oregon Ducks once this year, and that game is in Eugene on February 4th.

Oregon receiving a first place vote is interesting. Obviously there’s a lot of hype surrounding the Ducks heading into this season with how much talent they returned, and they are the favorite to win the Pac-12 right now.

There are a couple of other ranked teams that Arizona will play. The Gonzaga Bulldogs currently sit 13th in the poll, while the UCLA Bruins are 20th.

The Pac-12 has one coach voting in this year’s poll. That is Colorado’s Tad Boyle.

The Wildcats’ first exhibition game is scheduled for 7:30 PM on Tuesday, November 1st against College of Idaho. That game will be shown on Pac-12 Network.
