Arizona Wildcats in the NFL: Week 1 in the books

Here is a look at how some former Wildcats fared in their first appearance of the 2016 NFL season

With football season in full swing for both college and NFL teams, there is plenty of football to be had. There were a few former Wildcats in action this past weekend in the NFL, so let’s take a look at how they fared.

Ka’Deem Carey, RB (#25), Chicago Bears

Carey did see some action in his Bears’ 14-23 loss to the Houston Texans on Sunday. He had one carry for four yards. I do expect to see him get more touches this year.

Scooby Wright III, LB (#50), Cleveland Browns

Scooby was listed as “inactive” for the Browns’ game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Trevin Wade, DB (#31), New York Giants

Wade saw the field against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, but he did not record any stats.

Brooks Reed, LB/DE (#50), Atlanta Falcons

Reed started as the left-side defensive end against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, however, he ended up injuring his shoulder and didn’t return to the game.

Will Parks, S (#34), Denver Broncos

Parks was the only former Wildcat rookie to see the field in his team’s opener. He did not record any stats though.

Earl Mitchell, DT (#90), Miami Dolphins

Mitchell started as the right-side defensive tackle in the Dolphins’ game against the Seattle Seahawks and suffered a calf injury. He is listed as “week-to-week”. He recorded one tackle before departing. The Dolphins are placing Mitchell on IR.

Cayleb Jones, WR (#88), Philadelphia Eagles

It was thought that the Eagles had cut Jones, but they actually didn’t. He was placed on IR and is still with the team. He didn’t play Sunday.

Rob Gronkowski, TE (#87), New England Patriots

Gronk was downgraded from “questionable” to “out” for the Pats’ game against the Arizona Cardinals due to a hamstring injury.

Robert Golden, S (#21), Pittsburgh Steelers

Golden was not only the starting strong safety, but was a team captain for the Steelers Monday night. Golden played rather well against Washington, recording six tackles.

Nick Foles, QB (#4), Kansas City Chiefs

Foles did not see any action against the San Diego Chargers on Sunday. Instead, he watched from the sidelines as Alex Smith led the Chiefs to a comeback win.

Marquis Flowers, LB (#53), Cincinnati Bengals

Flowers came into the game as the back-up strongside linebacker. He did end up recording one tackle in Cincy’s 23-22 win over the New York Jets.

Nick Folk, K (#2), New York Jets

Folk had a not-very-Nick-Folk type of day. He was 3-for-4 on field goal attempts, with his only miss coming from a Cincinnati block. His longest of the day was from 45 yards. He was also 1-for-2 on PATs, his first PAT miss of his career.
