Arizona football recruiting: Scott Young, Jalen Harris and Joshua Brown standout on defense

Desert Gang ‘17 is making moves

Every Arizona Wildcat commit has now played at least one high school game in the 2016 season. With 27 commitments right now, there are a lot of guys to track down to see how they did.

We’re starting to see a lot of versatility with this recruiting class. A lot of the defensive prospects have been making a huge impact on the offensive side of the ball; Scott Young, Kylan Wilborn and Greg Johnson among them. And on offense there are guys like Darrian McNeal, Warren Jackson and Drew Dixon making some huge plays.

Charter Oak, Brian Casteel dominate Colony, Nathan Tilford

The battle of two Arizona commits, Brian Casteel and Nathan Tilford, ended favorably for the former. Brian Casteel continues to standout on offense this season. He had a 3-yard rushing touchdown and also had this nice catch and run.

Meanwhile Charter Oak game planned around Tilford, shutting him down throughout the night.

Highest ranked commit Greg Johnson getting loose

The 4-star athlete had a 5-yard rushing touchdown. He also had this dirty move:

Jalen Harris familiarizes himself with Tucson

The hybrid defensive end/linebacker headed to Tucson High and worked the Badgers. Harris ended up getting to the quarterback for a nice sack.

Desert Pines advances to 2-0

Tony Fields and Edgar Burrola have helped lead Desert Pines to a record of 2-0. They’re now ranked No. 3 in the state of Nevada, creeping up on No. 1 Bishop Gorman.

Kurtis Brown gives it a go at running back

Kurtis Brown helped lead his team to a big win over Ridgeview to advance to 2-0. He also got the chance to play some running back, though it didn’t work out. Imagine a 6-foot-3, 280 pound defensive tackle running the ball.

Scott Young continues to make plays

The 3-star safety commit continues to be one of my favorite commits of this class. He’s been standing out on both offense and defense this season.

Joshua Brown picks up interception

Joshua Brown already has Pac-12 size at linebacker, checking in at 6-foot-2 and 240 pounds. For his size, he’s also pretty athletic, which will be nice to see in Arizona’s future.

Drew Dixon adding to his rushing totals

Drew Dixon is really dominating this season, becoming one of the top rushers in the state of Arizona. This week, he had 17 carries for 91 yards, mostly playing a running back role.

He’ll be coming in as a wide receiver for Arizona, but the 6-foot-4, 215 pound target only had one reception for six yards. He also added two punt returns for 54 yards.

Bishop Gorman drops Cocoa High School

Cocoa might sound familiar, as that’s former Arizona target Bruce Judson’s team. They got absolutely worked by Bishop Gorman, losing 46-10. 3-star Arizona commit out of Gorman, Malik Hausman, has been battling injuries early this season.

Cody Shear continues to run dudes over

Enjoy the 6-foot-4 280 pound offensive tackle pounding guys into the ground:
