Arizona football recruiting: 3-star wide receiver Jordan Pouncey planning for official visit to Tucson

A new wide receiver prospect has emerged for Arizona

Arizona has been recruiting the state of Florida pretty hard this recruiting cycle, all made possible by the connections of Rod Smith and Jahmile Addae. We talked a bit about Bruce Judson recently and the Arizona Wildcats are also in good shape for a couple of guys including defensive ends J'Bril Glaze and Robert Porcher IV.

Now there seems to be a new Florida prospect in the mix; 3-star Jordan Pouncey, a 6-foot-3, 185 pound wide receiver out of Winter Park, Florida, who is becoming one of the fastest-rising recruits in the nation. He comes from a football family, as he is related to the Pouncey twins, Maurkice and Mike, who are both in the NFL.

I got a chance to talk to Jordan about his recruitment after receiving his Arizona offer.

"I talk to Coach Rod Smith at least once a week," Pouncey said about his relationship with the staff. "He started talking to me during spring practice. My offensive coordinator is really good friends with Coach Smith so he got me in contact. Coach Smith just wanted to see me in person and the rest is history."

"I was super excited because it was my first Pac-12 offer and Rich Rodriguez is the man," he said about his offer. "I'm from Florida so an offer from Arizona is really cool."

He has quite a bit of interest in the school, despite picking up interest from many schools across the country. In the past month, he has received offers from Georgia, South Carolina, Michigan State, Notre Dame and Auburn.

He plans to take an official visit to Arizona, as he tells me that it is "amongst the schools at the top of my list." Taking the official visit is big for the Wildcats, considering the fact that he has already planned 13 unofficial visits for the month of June.

Pouncey would like to commit before his senior season but is in no rush. When it comes to picking his future school it comes down two things: If he feels at home and has a strong relationship with the coaches.

His junior year highlights are below.
